Degolar asked if I've learned anything.
Well...yes, I suppose. It will all be applicable in due time. I am enjoying the conceptual part of library school. That is, looking at the library through a world view and understanding aspects I'd never considered before. While I knew that I enjoyed the research part of the job, I am finding preservation to be an interesting idea too.
I have one final project due. In about a week. I've begun preliminary brainstorming about where I'd like to take it.
In non-course-related news, I have decided to take a break next semester. I'll only be taking one class. This summer has been tremendously difficult. Some of it because I took three classes and some of it for personal reasons. As always, life is unpredictable, but I must make the best decision for myself and my family.
Don't worry, I'll be reporting here throughout...as if anyone reads this...

I've caught up on sleep, but I've got another project, not school-related that I need to finish quickly.
In the meantime, I've been doing my online postings and working on my final assignment for my young adult class. Easy, but time-consuming.
For my other class--visual collection development--I need to do some more small assignments and a big end project. Let's see...I've got two weeks to do that one. Hmmmm...maybe...
vacation is looking better each and every day.
Well, I should be glad that I'm making it through even if I'm driving myself crazy. My friend dropped all of her classes because she said she had too much going on. Could be there. glad i'm not.
when's vacation? did I already mention vacation? vacation....

It really has been "goodbye weekends". This whole month I've been in overdrive--as I expected. It's always worse when you're in the middle of it. School isn't my only project which makes my life more of a problem. Something has got to give. I rank school as a high priority so it probably won't be the first to go.
Since I wrote last, I've completed an entire class. I've read most of a book, participated in several online discussions and written a paper. So easy, you say...NO. No, it was not. It was not fun at all, but it is done and that is why I took the class.
I have just one large project and a few small discussions to finish up for another class. Simple enough.
I can't even wrap my head around the project for the other class. The teacher has jacked up the syllabus so much that I'm trying to piece together exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. I'll figure that out later. I've got more important personal stuff to work on in the meantime. Just tell me when the next assignment is due and I'll turn it in.
In the meantime, I'm finally going to catch up on sleep. I'll see you in a week. I'll be hibernating.

Back at the library today. Another week where I'm here six days. It's actually relaxing to be here, but not working. I forgot how much I enjoy people-watching, relaxing and scouring books. That is the downfall of working in a library. You forget why you fell in love with it.
I'd like to make an estimate that I'll be done with my project by the time the library closes, but I just don't see it happening. I really don't want to miss yoga tomorrow night to work on this, but I'm so exhausted from camping.
Alright, I'm getting back to work now...

I'm working on my final project for my last class for this semester. I really wanted to be done before I left work this afternoon so I wouldn't have to come back from my mini vacation to homework. But this is the price one pays for procrastination.
Procrastination that gets me into the library even before it's open to work on homework. I am here at my place of employment before we've opened the doors to the public to peruse reference resources. Thrilling.
Actually, it's quite helpful. I am learning a lot. But mostly just about art resources since that's the library I chose to base my essential reference source collection around.
That has made things tricky. I had to make a special trip to a library which is a half an hour from my house to peruse their reference collection.
I was appalled that they didn't allow food or drink or cell phones in their library. Before you think that I violated all those rules. I did not. I asked. So much for making the library a comforting place for students and people in general. No wonder no one was hanging out there. I wouldn't want to be there either if I couldn't chill.
Guess I know how I'd run the library if I was in charge, but, oh, I didn't get that job, now did I? Bitter?
I'm probably a little testy now because it's Friday morning before 9 a.m. I'd rather be in bed asleep.
And I should be working on this project instead of blogging. Bye!

I had class this past weekend. I didn't spend much time paying attention, although I probably should have. It was print resources so...I've done that job for five years already. I think I know a lot. I'm not saying I know it all, but... The weather was nice. I was mentally checking out.
We visited the library I worked on Saturday so I visited the library six days last week. Not the first time.
I was part of a group that did a presentation. I spontaneously started the presentation with a cheer which the teacher liked. Woo hoo.
I still haven't started the last project which is due this coming Monday. We're posting to a wiki which I've never done before, but looks interesting.
Here's to the finish of the semester!!!
